The first annual Blarney Stone 5K Road Race & Fitness Walk will take place on Sunday, October 6. The Community Resources for Justice is sponsoring the event. There will be a post race cookout and celebration with trophies and gifts being awarded to top finishers in each division.
The Blarney Stone, which is located in the Dorchester neighborhood of Fields Corner, is coming up for its one-year anniversary. The restaurant opened last fall as part of Boston mayor Tom Menino’s Main Street Project.
Those interested in participating in the race should stop by the Blarney Stone, 1505 Dorchester Ave. Dorchester for an entry form or go to www.coolrunning.com for an online version. There are several pre-registration sessions for the event, which cost $15. Registration on race day will cost $20.
Volunteers are needed and those interested should call 617-436-8223 for more information. Proceeds of the race will go to the Colonel Daniel Marr Boys & Girls Club (in Dorchester) and The Martin J. O’Donnell Scholarship Fund.
