The Beacons beat Emmanuel College in both games of a doubleheader March 26 — their first pair of games since the Space Coast Spring Break, in which the Beacons went 5-3.
UMass Boston rolled in the first game and eventually won 13-1 in the fifth inning after the run-ahead rule kicked in because the Beacons led by more than eight runs five innings in. It was their highest scoring game this year and their fourth time hitting double digits through just ten games.
The Beacons jumped on the Saints in the first with a solo home run from senior Lauren Miner. Miner leads UMass Boston in hits so far this year coming off a career season, but this was her first home run since her sophomore year in 2024.
Miner collected three hits and four RBIs in the first half of the double header — just one shy of the team lead, Hayley Krockta, who knocked in five runs including her second homer of the season. Krockta has seven career home runs.
Lexus McIntosh went the distance, even if it was five innings, allowing three hits and walking as many. McIntosh also struck three batters out, grabbing her fourth win of 2026.
UMass Boston shut out Emmanuel 3-0 in the second half of the two game set, outscoring the Saints by a total of 16-1 on the day. All three runs came in the third inning, and all three were scored as unearned for the Saints’ Carmen Crockett. The Beacons capitalized on some sloppy Saints defense forced by excellent baserunning by UMass Boston. A second base steal by Liv Wentworth started it all.
Izzy Levasseur pitched the full seven innings for the Beacons; she was electric, striking out 11 and shutting the Saints out. Levasseur’s 11 Ks are a career high, and five more than she’s ever recorded in her collegiate career. Levasseur is the lone pitcher left over from UMass Boston’s 2025 LEC Champion roster.
The Beacons advanced to 7-3 this year following their two game sweep on the Saints. Two Little East Conference teams have played conference games so far, and UMass Boston isn’t one of them. They’ll open LEC play March 30, visiting Rhode Island College for a doubleheader. RIC is 12-4 but also has yet to match up with another LEC team.
UMass Boston softball has been playing on the road for the entirety of their 2026 season as stadium construction remains underway. The field, located right outside the Clark Athletic Center, is becoming a turf field. Renovations will also include new seats, dugouts, bullpens, a scoreboard, as well as lights to help prevent games being called early due to darkness. The university’s website says their renovations will be “creating a premier facility for competition and recruitment.”
The Beacons are scheduled to play their home opener Tuesday, hosting Babson College in a doubleheader.
