Nominations for the spring Undergraduate Student Government election opened Wednesday morning.
Candidates can declare their bid for president, vice president, student trustee or senator until 11:45 p.m. March 16 via a form on UMBeInvolved. Students can also submit action or advisory referendum questions to be placed on the ballot, according to the form.
Action questions require the university to take action in accordance with state law, such as establishing or renewing optional fees for “nonpartisan student organizations” if they receive a majority of votes from undergraduate and graduate students. Advisory questions have no direct force and effect. Placing a question on the ballot requires 50 student signatures.
Students can cast their votes via UMBeInvolved April 14-17.
