Steel columns and beams forming the outline of the new General Academic Building No. 1 (GAB No. 1) are now visible at the construction site by the Campus Center.
Using a 275-ton hydraulic crane, crews from Zichelle in Leominster began to erect the 1,750-ton steel skeleton of the newest academic building Tuesday. The building will continue to take shape throughout the winter.
You can watch the building’s steel beams rise on our GAB No. 1 live webcams.
A model of the completed GAB No.1 building is set up on the second floor terrace of the Campus Center. For the next couple of weeks in December, a staff member will be available on the terrace during lunchtime to chat about the future building and other master plan and construction projects in the works.
