Bomb Threat in the Science Building

The university received a call at approximately 11:30, this morning claiming that a bomb had been placed in the Science Center.

At approximately 1:35 p.m. today the Department of Public Safety reopened the Science Center after State Police swept it with bomb-sniffing dogs. No device was found and the building was determined to be safe.

Personnel from the Department of Public Safety were immediately deployed to the Science Center, and all students, faculty, and staff were evacuated from the building until the inspection was completed.

Public Safety officers immediately evacuated the building. Fire Safety Volunteers assisted in keeping people away from the building while the Massachusetts State Police and Boston Police Department Bomb Squad teams searched the building.

Campus Police could not comment on the ongoing investigation but stated that if a culprit is apprehended they could face a minimum 5 year prison sentence.
