Robberies, Assaults Near JFK

Recent robberies at the JFK/UMass, Savin Hill, Shawmut and Ashmont stations along the Red Line have prompted the MBTA police to increase their presence. According to the police, the attacks have been taking place between 7 and 10:30 p.m. and all the victims have been women.

The Nov. 29 JFK/UMass (the station closest to UMass Boston and the one the Crystal Line picks up students from) attack took place at around 7 p.m. on Carson Street, directly behind the station. The police recommend not walking alone at night.

According to NECN.com, the police are looking for a black male between 20-30 years old.

Additionally, there was a sexual assault on Nov. 27 involving a UMass Boston student also near the JFK/UMass MBTA station. In this case, the perpetrator is a white male approximately 28-30 years old.
