Softball Recap

Life isn’t getting any easier for head coach Natalia Ardanga and her softball team.

The Beacons lost their seventh game in a row last Tuesday, as Lasell College beat them 7-1 in Newton.

Beacons right fielder Lauren O’Connor was the bright spot for UMass Boston, as she went 3-for-4 with two singles and double.

Maria Nasta, who led the Lady Beacons hockey team in points this past season as a sophomore, played in her first game of the season for the softball team and homered.

She pinch-hit for leadoff hitter Jenn Widener, who got hit in the face with a foul ball. Widener was diagnosed with a contusion, but should be back in action soon.

“We’re just looking for people to help out,” Ardanga said about the decision to bring Nasta aboard twelve games into the season. “She can definitely be an asset to us and she stepped up when we needed some help.”
