Wick’s Two Cents

There are always topics to ponder and opinions to take in the expanse of Boston sports. Every week, the Mass Media will talk to Alan Wickstrom, UMB’s Sports Information Director, and get his opinion on a relevant Boston sports topic.

Last week, former Laker great Magic Johnson anointed Kobe Bryant as the best player in the NBA, over such superstars Paul Pierce and LeBron James. This week, sports information director Alan Wickstrom weighs in with his opinion of the best player in the league.

Magic might be biased because he was a Laker. But I believe that LeBron is the best player in the league. I grew up watching Magic and Larry Bird and Michael Jordan.

If there’s anybody close to Magic, I think that LeBron is closer than Kobe is.

Without a doubt, LeBron makes everyone around him better. Just the fact that this guy averages as many assists (7.3 apg) as he does proves that he goes into a game proves that his intent is to make his teammates better.

I don’t think there’s anybody in the league who takes it to the rack like this guy. How are they going to stop this guy? He’s a physical specimen and has such a high basketball IQ. LeBron is a man among boys, despite only being 23. He is just unbelievable.
