Sophomore hockey player Lauren Duran is the Star you See this week. Duran is off to a stellar start for the Lady Beacons, scoring four goals and recording an assist in two wins for UMass Boston.

“She’s a bull,” head coach Maura Crowell said. “She’s really strong on loose pucks in the slot [and at the] hash marks down low.”

Duran, who transitioned from defense to offense mid-way through last season, won ECAC East’s Ice Hockey Player of the Week for the second time in her career for outstanding play during opening weekend of the Lady Beacons’ season.

Crowell attributed Duran’s early success to line mates Maria Nasta and Rachel Sousa doing a great job of feeding the puck to the girl with the strongest shot on the team.

As of November 12, Duran was tied atop the national goals per game leader board with 2.0 and third in points per game with 2.5.
