Beacon Icemen Tie Framingham State

Casey Reasonover scored the game tying goal with two minutes remaining in the game to cap off a third period rally and secure a third place finish in the consolation game of the Coca Cola Classic at Stonehill College. The tie left the Beacons’ record at 0-3-1.

The tie salvaged the weekend, especially after a tough 4-3 loss to Stonehill College on Saturday. Julian Giantonio scored two goals and Mike O’Sullivan contributed with two assists in the game against Stonehill College. Goaltender Craig Paster came up with 26 saves in that game.

For a while, the game on Sunday against Framingham State looked like it would be the Beacons fourth loss of the season. After a 1-1 score after one period, the Beacons took a brief lead on an O’Sullivan goal. However, Framingham State scored three goals, two on the power play and one shorthanded, to take a 4-2 lead.

Framingham State’s Jesse Ferguson tallied a quick goal a minute into third period play. It looked like it would be lights out for the Beacons, but James Gilbert scored on a power play to cut the deficit back to two goals. O’Sullivan then scored his second goal of the game, this time while the Beacons were shorthanded. Craig Paster (32 saves) stopped 12 third period shots by Framingham State, enabling the Beacons to keep the game close until Reasonover’s goal.
