CRIST LEADS UMASS BOSTON VOLLEYBALL OVER SALEM STATE, 3-0

BOSTON, MA – Freshman middle hitter Natalie Crist (Santa Maria, CA) smashed a match-high 13 kills, while owning a dominant .579 hitting percentage to lead the University of Massachusetts Boston volleyball team over visiting Salem State College tonight, 30-9, 30-12, 30-12, at the Clark Athletic Center on the campus of UMass Boston. The Beacons win their seventh straight match and have won 13 of their last 15 to improve to 15-7 on the season. UMB’s win streak is its longest since 1999 when the squad reeled off nine in a row. The Vikings fall to 1-13 on the year.

PROVIDENCE, RI – University of Massachusetts Boston women’s volleyball player Kate White (Plymouth, MA) has been named Little East Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week for her play during the week of October 2-8th, it was announced today. It’s the third time this season and the second straight week that she has been selected as the league’s top weekly rookie. She also captured the award for the week of September 11-17th and September 25th to October 1st.

PROVIDENCE, RI – University of Massachusetts Boston men’s soccer player Paul Maniscalco (Boston, MA) has been named Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for his play during the week of October 2-8th, it was announced today. It’s the second time this season that he has earned the weekly honor and the third for his career.
