The Star You See

Ryan Donovan couldn’t have picked a better time to snap out of his season-long funk.

The Beacons’ goaltender, who brought a 6-9-2 record, a goals against average over three and a save percentage under .900 into his team’s playoff game at Norwich University last weekend, put that all behind him by shutting the Cadets out, 1-0, in overtime to record the first playoff shutout in UMass Boston history.

“Their goalie played very, very well. That was the difference,” Mike McShane, Norwich’s head coach said after his team was beat for the first time ever in the quarterfinals of the ECAC East tournament.

The win was Donovan’s second career in the postseason. He was in net for last season’s upset win over Babson College in the first-round of the ECAC East playoffs as well.
