Being a Senator in the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) is arguably one of the most important activities a student can engage in while pursuing their degree. Senators are powerful advocates for their fellow students and can almost single handedly bring important issues to the forefront of campus discussion. I chose to run for a senate seat to ensure that Student Veterans were adequately represented in USG. Veterans are an important part of the University of Massachusetts Boston community, and I like to think that I have been able to give them a voice in USG. If you are a member, or know of a community that would benefit from representation, you can be that voice. Whether you want to make a change, or ensure that we stay the course, no one can advocate for you and your community better than you. The deadline to register for this year’s election is March 8; I would encourage anyone who is even remotely interested to run. If you’re not sure, send me an e-mail ([email protected]). I’d be more than happy to tell you about how my senior year was made so much better by being a USG Senator.
