Men’s Basketball: In the final week of the regular season, UMass Boston’s men’s basketball team split its two games with a win and a loss. First, the Beacons defeated UMass Dartmouth with a final score of 76–66. Then, later in the week, they fell to Plymouth State University, 61–54. A win would have given UMass Boston the two-seed for the Little East Conference tournament, but instead they have now earned the four-seed due to the tiebreaker. This means they will open up the tournament with a home game, as they will be hosting Rhode Island College tomorrow, at a time that will later be announced. In the first meeting between the two teams, the Beacons won 72–68 on the road. The following matchup took place in the beginning of this month, when UMass Boston lost at home 83–80. Tuesday’s game should be exciting, and hopefully the Beacons will take care of business. 
Women’s Basketball: UMass Boston’s women’s basketball team ended the year just as it had started, winning all three games in the final week of the season. The Beacons first took down Western Connecticut State University 79–58, UMass Dartmouth 65–60, and Plymouth State University 69–61. That brings their record to 19–6, with a conference record of 10–6. Just like the men’s team, the women have earned the four seed for the LEC tournament. In round one, they will host UMass Dartmouth tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m. On the year, the Beacons most recently defeated them 65–60 this past week, and also won 81–73 in their first meeting. 
Men’s Hockey: Sadly, the UMass Boston’s men’s hockey team’s season came an end on Saturday, as they lost to New England College in the quarterfinals of the New England Hockey Conference tournament, 4–1. It was a pretty good year for the Beacons; they went 14–11–1 overall with a conference record of 10–7–1. After losing to New England College 6–3 in November, the Beacons came back with a 4–1 victory the next time the two played in January. Unfortunately, this past weekend, New England College had UMass Boston’s number and put them away. I’m sure the men’s hockey team will come back strong in 2021.
Women’s Hockey: In an absolute thriller of a game, UMass Boston’s women’s hockey team saw their season come to an end after losing in triple overtime to University of Southern Maine by a score of 2–1. It was the quarterfinals of the NEHC tournament, in which the Beacons were the fifth seed. Their final overall record was 12–11–3, to go along with a conference record of 8–6–2. University of Southern Maine truly was prepared for the Beacons all year long, beating them for a third time on Saturday. The first meeting ended in a 4–2 loss, and the second one was a 3–2 loss. While the season certainly did not end the way UMass Boston would have preferred, they should be proud of how the way that they battled back after a 1–4–1 start to the year.
