“Beyond Therapy” will play in The Black Box Theater, Nov. 2-5, 7 p.m.

Last week, we printed an errorridden article about a student production of “Beyond Therapy,” which will be playing in the Black Box Theater in McCormack next week.

Minnie Katzen, the stage manager for the production, wrote us a email pointing out that we not only printed the wrong location for the play in our sub-headline, but also misrepresented the students putting on the production, “there is no ‘group’-the initiative is Hatem [Adell]’s, and the further statement that we ‘decided to create a group that was 100 percent student run’ is absolutely false,” she wrote.

We printed in the article that this production, which is being directed and managed by students, had limited involvement from theater department. Katzen wanted to be clear: “the statement that I allegedly made about us not associating ourselves with the department is 100 percent false. The production is not only a part of the theater department, it is being graciously produced and sponsored by the department,” she went on to write. “To put such words in my mouth is not only carelessly libelous, it could have a potentially harmful effect on our relations with the theater department, as it insinuates a lack of respect and gratitude on our part. The department, headed by Professor Robert Lublin, has been nothing but supportive and helpful with this production.”

The writers and editors of The Mass Media had no intension of defaming Mr. Adell or the theater department in print. Any inferences that may have been made about tensions between this student production and the theater department are simply not accurate. We apologize for the factual errors that we printed-including the month of “The Midsummer Night’s Dream” production, which was December, not February-and continue to strive to serve our fellow students with weekly campus coverage.
