Volleyball Beacon Update

With excitement high amongst the coaching staff for volleyball, it’s nice to see that the excitement for the upcoming season is reciprocated by the players. When Emily Steinberg, sophomore, was asked about her thoughts on the upcoming season, she told us that “I feel good about it, I think we are going to do really well. Our hearts are in it so I think we have a chance at the National Championship.” While the season brings promise for the team as a whole, it also brings feelings of nervousness and sadness. Sarah Doyle (freshman) and Pepper Baker (senior) are players at the opposite ends of their UMB volleyball careers. Both players feel the team will do very well and go far in the tournament this season. Baker was quoted saying “This season is a little bittersweet but I am excited and confident that I’ll do well. There’s no other team I’d rather have my last season with.” While Doyle expressed “I’m a little scared, but overall excited to be playing at a tougher level.” The players and staff are ready for the 2016 season, which opens to some high expectations.
