I am writing in response to an interesting article that I read in this week’s Mass Media. The article, “Halloween: A Brief History of Haunts” written by Nathan Aldrich, was full of many interesting facts about Halloween. I would just like to pass one bit of information along.In the writer’s section, called “Halloween Fun Facts”, the writer lists the largest pumpkin as weighing 1,131 lbs., grown by Gerry Checkon of Spangler, PA. This year a new world record was set in the giant pumpkin category.The new world-record breaking pumpkin, grown by Charlie Houghton of New Boston, New Hampshire weighed a whopping 1, 337.6 lbs. and was available for viewing at the Topsfield Fair this year in Topsfield, MA. The pumpkin can be seen at the Topsfield Fair website-www.topsfieldfair.org.I just wanted to pass the information along…thanks!
