Romney’s Actions Investigated

According to The Boston Globe, Governor Mitt Romney’s decision to utilize Bain & Co., the consulting firm he once ran, to do policy research and strategize on policies such as his reorganization of higher education plan is being investigated. The Senate Post Audit and Oversight Committee is investigating Romney’s actions to determine whether or not Romney’s administration violated ethics or campaign finance laws. Key among the actions Romney is being scrutinized for is his decision to block a $386 million dollar UMass bond.

Taunton Democrat Marc R. Pacheco initiated the investigation. According to Pacheco, the delay in the UMass bonds being attained at the low interest rate that was initially offered has the potential to cost taxpayers millions of dollars.
