With a total of 69 games played in her colligate career Kristen Bowes has finished her career at UMass Boston as the Beacons career leader in games played. Bowes amounted 815 saves at a .806 save percentage mark during her UMass career. What’s more, she contributed substantially in the Beacons’ two final games of the 2003 season. In the Beacons tough overtime loss against Regis College on October 29 Bowes scored a goal and on November 1 she had 23 saves against Western Connecticut State.

The Beacons found a spark against Regis College and came back from a 3-1 deficit midway through the second half. Speedy sophomore forward Lara Miele put together a pair of unassisted goals as well as assisting Bowes on her goal, which evened out the score at 72:27 and forced overtime. Misfortune struck the Beacons at 92:46 when Kate Daley, who had assisted on two of Regis’ previous goals, headed in the game winner. Despite the close score, the Beacons out shot the Pride 16-7.

In the final contest of the 2003 season the Beacons were gigantically jostled, 11-0, by Western Connecticut State. Colonial players Corey Zima and Nicole Corbin comprised six goals for WCSU with a hat trick each. The Beacons finish the season with an overall record of 3-15-0, and winless in the LEC at 0-7-0.
