Although the women’s basketball team has had its ups and downs this season, Denise Ridge has proven to be a pleasant surprise for coach Shawn Renee Polk. The 5′ 9″ Milton High graduate has demonstrated her considerable athletic ability by becoming the team’s second leading scorer with 8.3 points per game.

Ridge is also no slouch on another kind of court: the tennis court. Two years ago, she made a huge splash in the Little East Conference (LEC). Ridge blew away a majority of her opponents, hardly losing a set all season. She has also won back-to-back First Flight championships in the LEC tournament.

And if you think she is going to take the spring off, think again. Ridge is also a member of the softball team. Even though she did not get a ton of bats (a total of five), with the departures of several seniors from last year’s squad, look for Ridge to play more of a role this Spring.
