The daily pravda rock!

Amy Julian

So take David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust-era Bowie), The Cars and hell, lets throw in some White Stripes and The Killers for good measure, and what do you get? Boston’s own attempt at resurrecting synth-rock, The Daily Pravda. With Adam Anderson on lead guitar, Ben Anderson on synth, bass, backing vocals, David Jackel doing vocals and guitar and Ken Marcou banging the skins, The Daily Pravda prove to be a multidimensional band with a passion for what they do.

The Daily Pravda combines elements of a number of genres in a way that is diverse enough to spit out different-sounding songs, but they’re not so disjointed that you are left scratching your head; it’s the best combination for any successful band.

Their cd, “She’s So Mature,” has been gaining steam online and in hardcopy, thanks largely to the title track which combines the strong, clear vocals of Jackel and a number of shifts in intensity. Other fan favorites include “Viva Natalia,” a slower, more mellow, electronic-sounding jam that, just when you think it’s gonna remain monotonous, stands up and punches you in the face, and the eerie “Home Invasion,” which has a creepy, yet surprisingly toe-tapping feel to it.

The Pravda will be rolling over to TT the Bear’s Place in Central Square in Cambridge (Red Line to Central Square T-stop) on May 7 at 9:00 p.m. and are ready to give fans a show they won’t soon forget. They are also scheduled to be playing at Church in Boston on June 28, and likely more dates will follow.

So check out The Daily Pravda by visiting their Myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/thedailypravda) and be sure to download their full cd “She’s So Mature” on iTunes. The talented foursome will pleasantly surprise anyone who appreciates good, honest and fun rock.
